Family-1400x460July is National Family Reunion Month. This time of year, especially around the July 4th holiday, many families across the nation gather formally or informally to fellowship with family members they have not seen in while, to get better acquainted with those they don't know well, and even to meet those they've never been introduced to. On the current edition of Insight, Bhakti Larry Hough interviews "The Mother of Family Reunions," Dr. Ione Vargus, Founder and Director of the Family Reunion Institute at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa. They'll discuss the various kinds of family gatherings and how to plan them.

Mrs. Wilhelmina P. Johnson, Executive Director - CRC INC.

For 40 years, the Cultural Realism Complex (CRC) in Darlington has served Darlington County with a variety of programs for youth and community development and historic preservation. The force behind CRC is Wilhelmina P. Johnson, a retired educator and Darlington County Councilwoman, who started CRC as Cultural Realism Charm in 1973. Bhakti Larry Hough interviewed Johnson about CRC and African American history in general on the current edition of Insight.

The Carolina African American Heritage Foundation (CAAHF) is a multi-faceted group focusing on the needs of Myrtle Beach and surrounding areas and that promotes cultural, arts and educational programs relative to the history and culture of African Americans living in the Carolinas, according to CAAHF’s mission statement. Current efforts toward accomplishing that mission include “Brown Bag Luncheons” to teach entrepreneurial and business development skills to underserved populations, assistance in securing government contracts for minority construction contractors, crime prevention among youth, and a full slate of activities and events to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. CAAHF board member Doris Gleason and CAAHF Coordinator Leonard Love speak with Bhakti Larry Hough about the organization and its mission during the current edition of Insight (#46), airing on January 9th and 14th at 10:00 AM, 7:00 PM, and midnight, on 90.9 FM, Radio Baha'i.
